Tour de France, Samsung, City of Chicago, Tourism Vancouver, the French Mnistry of Sport and World Sport Group Singapore are among the top-level speakers that were today confirmed for City Events. They, and other world-class speakers, will share experiences and insights on how host cities can maximize the benefits of hosting international sports events over the two-day conference that is fully dedicated to connecting ambitious host cities and international sports federations.
The second edition of City Events will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Olympic Capital, from the 16th to the 18th of November 2011. This year’s programme focuses on how to maximize the impact of sports event for a host city in three different dimensions: creating economic impact, social impact and branding impact. The conference pulls together leading experts from host cities, international federations, academics and solution providers.
In addition to the impressive list of speakers, City Events will also offer a unique occasion to meet directly with the International Federations to discuss one-on-one opportunities in speed-meetings. City Events will have a full-house of Olympic and non-Olympic International Sports Federations eager to meet ambitious host cities.
The opening session of the conference will focus on creating economic impact, specifically on how to create partnerships and measure economic impact. High-profile speakers from a variety of different perspectives will share their knowledge, including: ASO who owns the Tour de France, Populous, Doublet, Samsung, the International Academy for Sports Studies, European Athletics, the International Swimming Federation (FINA), and the cities of Chicago (USA), Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Erzurum (Turkey).
The second session will focus on creating social impact, with a specific focus on how to leverage programmes for better social impact and how to integrate online based social media and video games with offline participation in sport moving towards a healthier population. World class speakers in this session will include: Rutter and Partners who did the socio-economic impact analysis of Euro 2008, Upsolut, French Ministry of Sport, International Basketball Federation (FIBA), TSE Consulting, Chong and Koster the Washington based social media specialists, the United Nation Office on Sport for Development, City of Gwangju, Peace and Sport, and Quantis.
The third and final session is dedicated to creating branding impact focusing on using sports event to improve the national and international brand of a city. Top-level speakers will include Gauteng Province in South Africa - host of the FIFA World Cup 2010, World Sport Group Singapore, the University of Westminster, Lagardère Unlimited Stadium Solutions, OC Third Pole, the Extreme Sport Company, and Tourism Vancouver.
