On Wednesday, July 24, Time Brasil celebrated the 1-year mark for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in the heart of the Pan American village of Lima. The Brazilian delegation attended the official welcoming ceremony, held by the organizing committee of the Pan American Games, alongside the Bahamas, Bolivia, the Cayman Islands and Saint Lucia.

"We asked the organizing committee to have our ceremony held on the 24th, a symbolic date, by the one-year mark for the Olympic Games. The Pan is key in this walk, since 22 sports are qualifying for Tokyo 2020. And the main goal of team Brazil in Lima is to achieve the greatest number of vacancies for the Olympic Games, "said Marco Antonio La Porta, COB vice president and head of Mission at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

The ceremony brought together about 80 members of the team Brasil, including the president of COB, Paulo Wanderley, and athletes of the handball teams, 7 rugby, weightlifting, 3x3 basketball and bowling. In addition to the flagging of the flags, the organization promoted a local dance spectacle. Represented by La Porta, Team Brasil was still presented with an Inca sculpture by the mayor of the village, Giorgio Mautino.
