Speakers & participants in the Dubai 10th International Symposium for Sports Creativity dealt with latest developments in sports industry & creativity, Tuesday 28th Oct. 2014.

The Symposium, under title "Thoughts in Sports Creativity", tackled successful experiences of top sportspersons.

The Symposium was arranged by the General Secretariat of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Creative Sports Award".

The event was organized in the presence of H.E. Mater Al-Tayer, the Chairman of the Secretaries’ Council of the Award along with other members of the Secretaries’ Council of the Award; these are: Dr. Hassan Mustafa, President of the International Handball Federation / Dr. Abdulatif Bukhari / Dr. Atif Audhaybat / Dr. Khalifa Al-Shaali / Dr. Ahmed Al-Sharif, Secretary General of the Award.

The Symposium was also held in the presence of other top sportspersons from UAE & abroad; among whom are: Mr. Jabril Al-Rajoub, President of the Palestinian Olympic Committee and President of the Palestinian Football Association / Major General Naser Al-Razouqi, President of the UAE Taekwondo & Karate Association / Mr. Abdul Muhsin Al-Dusari, Assistant Secretary General of the General Authority for Youth & Sports Welfare / several members of DSC; these are: Mr. Saeed Hareb, Mr. Ali Bu Jusim & Mr. Yousuf Jawad Al-Ridha.

Speakers & heads of sessions were awarded the memorial of the Symposium, which has become an eminent event that attracts top respective bodies in creativity field.

The first session of the Symposium, under title "Thoughts in Sports Creativity", was addressed by Andrew Harrison, the Innovation Ambassador, and managed by Dr. Niloofar Rouhani.

Andrew Harrison resorted to the statement of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Vice President & Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, saying: "We Exploit Creativity & Innovation to Create Something New". Andrew Harrison referred that H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid’s statement gives a brief for various sciences. He mentioned that he has published two books, in which he talked on persons who work hard to attain creativity.

He remarked: "Creativity is to attain a new vision or thought that differs from others. In football, for example, both teams have the same number of players. However, the team which resorts to creativity will attain victory".

He added: "In case of loss, creative athlete should analyze the reasons of loss, rectify negative points and wok hard to attain victory in the next time. Triumph is the goal of creative athletes. Psychological & creative sides are the hidden parts that push teams or individuals to attain victory. If athlete enjoys goals, thoughts & culture then he is expect to attain victory".

By the end of the session, Andrew Harrison conducted a practical experience to show how creative persons may help others to think in a positive way to solve problems".

The second session, under title "Sports Creativities", was addressed by Dr. Nader Shalabi, the Dean of the Faculty of the Sports Education at Al-Areesh University in Egypt and managed by Dr. Naji Ismail, the Technical Director of the Award. The session dealt with the new Nanotechnology, an advanced technology, which has been experienced in various field since 1990.

Dr. Nader Shalabi defined the Nanotechnology as a mini–unit that not exceeding one billionth of a meter. He focused on the exploitation of the Nanotechnology in the sports field, referring that this technology can be used in medical sides to treat athletes / analysis of performance / manufacturing of items, equipment & dresses of various sports games.

Dr. Shalabi mentioned that the Nanotechnology has helped in manufacturing artificial limbs for disabled athletes, referring that these artificial limbs are linked to the nervous system to improve disabled athletes' performance & pushed them forward to attain titles in Paralympic competitions.

He referred that the Nanotechnology helped in manufacturing a new fast & flexible football / dealt with criteria that influence the weight of the ball & players’ shoes & other equipment.

He said that Japan has expended one billion dollar to develop the Nanotechnology, while USA have qualified more than 40 thousand technologists who are able to deal with this technology.

In conclusion of his lecture, Dr. Shalabi presented several recommendations; top of which are to motivate champions use technology / boost players’ levels / develop laboratories for physiological measurements.

H.E. Mustafa Al-Arfawi, Member of the Secretaries’ Council of the Award and Honorary President for the International Swimming Federation (FINA), presented the third session, managed by Mr. Musad Abdul Wahab of Al-Khaleej Newspaper.

H.E. Al-Arfawi talked on his distinctive administrative experience in sports work, referring that he commenced exercising sports in early age.

He has founded the Algerian Swimming Association when he was 30 years old and then founded the Algerian Olympic Committee.

He presented a brief on his international career in FINA from 1998 to 2009 in which he attained several achievements.

He focused on the foundation of the Union of the African Swimming Associations in 1983 stating that he became the President of the Union in 1987 and remained in the chairmanship office of the Union up to 2011.

He also talked on the current situation of the Arab swimming, referring that it lacks proper coaching. He called respective bodies to give more consideration for the swimming game, since it is one of the most eminent sports games, which may boost the status of Arab sport.

New Initiatives:

Two new initiatives were launched during the current edition of the Symposium; the first of which was the providing of translation service for deaf & dumb who attended the Symposium’s sessions, while the second initiative was the management of open dialogue through "Google Plus" with the associates of the Faculties of Sports Education at UAE universities, Al-Mansoura University in Egypt and Al-Yarmouk University in Jordon, as part of the instructions of the Secretaries’ Council of the Award to use advanced technology & smarts means to enable those who wish to participate from abroad to get benefits of the sessions & to participate in the dialogue.
