Doha Youth Join Olympians Ahead of Diamond League -- Federations Focus

(ATR) Doha's youth joined Olympians Conseslus Kipruto and Genevieve Lacaze for nearly a mile run as part of festivities ahead of the start of the 2017 Diamond League.

The event, organized by the Qatar Athletics Federation and Qatar Olympic Committee, was held along the capital's shoreline at MIA Park.

Children had the opportunity to put their fitness skills to the test as well as obtain words of encouragement from Olympic medalists.

"My journey in athletics and to the Olympics started at informal events like this one, so it is a privilege to lend my support and help inspire the next generation of athletes," Lacaze said in a statement.

The International Association of Athletics Federations 2017 Diamond League begins Friday in Doha, Qatar.

The world’s best track and field athletes will begin the reformatted Diamond League Series at the Qatar Sports Club stadium, each seeking to earn points that would help them qualify for the Diamond League Finals.

The first event of the annual series will feature a lineup of Olympic medalists and world champions. Around the Rings will be on the scene providing coverage of the Diamond League from Doha.

ICC Launches National Events App

The International Cricket Council mobile application is now available to the public.

This interactive app will provide coverage of all upcoming series and tournaments throughout the year including breaking news, exclusive video content, live commentary and score notifications.

The first national event to utilize the app will be the ICC Champions Trophy, set for June 1-18 in England & Wales.

In conjunction with the app, the ICC have released a monthly newsletter entitled the ' Leading Edge'. Exclusive ticket and merchandise offers, interviews with leading players and more will be featured in the newsletter directed to the email of fans around the world.

IWWF 2017 Hall of Fame Inductees Unveiled

The International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation Hall of Fame now has four new members.

The latest additions include Ageliki Andriopoulou of Germany and Kristi Overton Johnson, Kris Lapoint and Ron Scarpa of the United States.

They will be awarded during a ceremony at the 2017 Waterski World Championships in Paris at the Choisy-Le-Roi on Sept. 8.

"Congratulations to all our 2017 Inductees and we greatly look forward to honoring them at the Award Ceremony in September," the IWWF said in a statement.
