Doha 2017 Bid Has The Full Support of the Qatari Government

The Qatar government has reiterated its full support for the 2017 IAAF World Championships Doha bid. His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Heir Apparent, affirmed that no effort will be spared in order to make it possible for the capital of Qatar to host the IAAF showcase event.

In a statement Tuesday to the Qatar News Agency, QNA, H.H. Sheikh Tamim said "The Doha bid for the 2017 IAAF World Championships has the full and absolute support of the Government and the people of Qatar.

"Sport is central to our national vision and we want the great sport of Athletics to have new opportunities in our country and in the Middle East," he added.

"Our team have put together a great bid with many creative and unique features. Doha's bid guarantees certainty, innovation and a platform for Athletics to reach new fans, a dynamic region and an exciting new market for the sport's most important event." H.H concluded.

Doha bid is running against London for the right to host this major athletics event.

The decision will be made by IAAF Council in Monaco on Nov. 11, 2011.
