Discovery today announces that Luigi Filippo Ecuba has joined the organisation as Senior Director, Sport, reporting directly to Alessandro Araimo, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer Southern Europe.

Discovery today announces that Luigi Filippo Ecuba has joined the organisation as Senior Director, Sport, reporting directly to Alessandro Araimo, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer Southern Europe.

The appointment of Ecuba, who will be based at the Southern Europe Region Headquarters in Milan, is effective immediately. His role will lead the sports strategy in Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Born in Rome, Ecuba is a journalist and manager with over twenty years' experience in television. During the past four years he has been Director of Content Proposition – focusing on sport – at Sky Deutschland's Marketing & Product Strategy Division. Prior to this Ecuba was with Sky Italia, following the start-up phase of Sky Tg24 as Senior Producer and anchor, and at Sky Sport24 as Executive Producer. Before joining Sky Italia, he worked at Eurosport International in Paris as Editor in Chief for the Italian multi-platform and prior to that he was at Bloomberg TV in London as producer, financial writer and anchor.

In the new sports department – coordinated by Ecuba - Luca Corsolini has been appointed as Olympic Senior Consultant for Italy. Corsolini has vast experience in the world of sport, having worked for over ten years at Sky Italia as journalist and Olympic Content Coordinator, and was previously at Adidas Italia as Head of Communication. In his new role, Corsolini will bring his rich professional experience to Discovery ahead of the four editions of the Olympic Games that Eurosport will broadcast in Italy between 2018 and 2024.
