The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) organised a luncheon ceremony for a group of invitees from all over the world visiting Bahrain to discover different aspects of the nation.
The invited delegation was in Bahrain over the past week at an invitation from the Good Word Society as part of Discover Bahrain Exchange Programme, aimed at expanding knowledge and experience of international community members about Bahrain.
Participants have come from the US, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, France, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Portugal, Costa Rica, Argentina, Peru, Guatemala, Algeria, South Africa, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and China.
The trip and outings focused on showcasing the people and culture of Bahrain paired with Bahrain’s rich history and modern society.
And the BOC took the opportunity to welcome them and highlight the Olympic movement in the Kingdom and its most honourable achievements.
Held at the Royal Golf Club, the ceremony started with a speech delivered by Ahmed Al Qarainees from the BOC International Affairs, highlighting the sports movement in Bahrain.
He talked about the committee mission, which is to promote, protect, develop and regulate the Olympic movement in the kingdom in accordance with the Olympic Charter.
Al Qarainees said the BOC is to embody the aspirations and hopes of the sports movement members and through out partnerships that aim to provide the necessary support to enable Bahrain's athletes to excel on the Arabian and global sporting stage.
He also referred to some of the programmes conducted by the committee on regular basis as well as the available sports facilities and major sporting events that Bahrain hosted over the past few years, the most recent of which was the 21st Gulf Cup football tournament held last month.
A question and answer session then took place, during which the invitees showed admiration for the sports development in Bahrain.
The delegation, whose one-week trip ended yesterday (SATURDAY), were taken on a tour to different landmarks to inform them on the historical, economic, scientific, health, cultural, media and other aspects.
Many of the participants had very little understanding of Bahrain prior, but after time in Bahrain, they welcomed the friendly culture and progressive society.
They praised the successful trip and expressed willingness to visit Bahrain again next year.
