L’Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) confirme qu’elle a notifié le coureur britannique Christopher Froome
d’un Résultat d’Analyse Anormal (RAA) pour présence de Salbutamol à une concentration supérieure à
1000 ng/ml (*) dans un échantillon collecté durant la Vuelta a España le 7 septembre 2017. Le coureur a été
notifié de ce RAA le 20 septembre 2017.
Le contrôle antidopage a été planifié et diligenté par la Fondation Antidopage du Cyclisme (CADF), entité
indépendante mandatée par l’UCI, chargée de définir et mettre en œuvre la stratégie antidopage dans le
cyclisme.
L’analyse de l’échantillon B a confirmé le résultat de l’échantillon A du coureur, et la procédure se déroule
conformément au Règlement Antidopage de l’UCI.
Par principe, et bien que cela ne soit pas exigé par le Code mondial antidopage, l'UCI signale
systématiquement sur son site internet les violations potentielles des règles antidopage lorsqu'une
suspension provisoire obligatoire s'applique. Conformément à l'article 7.9.1. du Règlement Antidopage de
l'UCI, la présence d'une Substance Spécifiée telle que le Salbutamol dans un échantillon ne nécessite pas
l'imposition d'une telle suspension provisoire à l'encontre du coureur.
L’UCI ne fera pas d’autres commentaires à ce sujet à ce stade de la procédure.
(*) La Liste des Interdictions de l’AMA prévoit que : « La présence dans l’urine de salbutamol à une concentration
supérieure à 1000 ng/mL ou de formotérol à une concentration supérieure à 40 ng/mL sera présumée ne pas être une
utilisation thérapeutique intentionnelle et sera considérée comme un résultat d’analyse anormal (RAA), à moins que le
sportif ne prouve par une étude de pharmacocinétique contrôlée que ce résultat anormal est bien la conséquence de
l’usage d’une dose thérapeutique (par inhalation) jusqu'à la dose maximale indiquée ci-dessus. »
