(ATR)Major Events International’s flagship Major Events Summit will be virtual during the week beginning July 6.

MEI is predicting more than 600 sporting and event professionals from more than 300 organizations will be attending the summit.

Organizers say they will provide as many of the benefits of the face-to-face events as they can. Live-streamed briefings and prerecorded additional content will be available after the main two live-streamed content days on July 7-8.

The sixth edition of the summit is described as a contribution to ensuring the events industry "can return to the new normality with new ways of working and relationships" in the wake of the impact of COVID-19.

Representatives from Rugby League World Cup 2021, FIFA World Cup 2026 and the 2026 Winter Olympics are among the speakers confirmed for the event.

Interactive opportunities will include networking groups, workshops and the ability to ask questions to presenters.

Free 3-Day Webinar on Sports Integrity

The effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on lotteries, the sports movement, the sports betting sector and public stakeholders will be the focus of a webinar later this month.

The Global Lottery Monitoring System, European Lotteries and World Lottery Association are jointly organizing the event, which has been designed to run for a total of about nine hours over the course of three days from June 23-25.

Organizers say panels and presentations will include information on the monitoring activities and trends over the last three months and how lotteries from East to West and other stakeholders have been dealing with this unprecedented situation.

The webinar, which is free to join, will also address the recent growth of the U.S. sports betting sector.

SportAccord 2019 Wins Awards

The 2019 edition of the SportAccord World Sport & Business Summit in Gold Coast, Australia is officially award-winning.

SportAccord 2019 was selected as Platinum Award winner for Best Event in Australia at the 2019 Meeting & Events Australia (MEA). It also won for overall Government Event of the Year and took home the Queensland’s Event Legacy Award.

"We are grateful that SportAccord 2019 has been recognized by Meeting & Events Australia for what was such a productive and enjoyable week in Gold Coast, Queensland," SportAccord and GAISF President Raffaele Chiulli said in a statement.

"The recognition only solidifies the value of hosting SportAccord to cities, regions and countries and the legacy impact of our event."

The 2021 edition of the only global sports industry event attended by all International Sport Federations and their stakeholders will be held in Ekaterinburg, Russia from May 23-28, 2021.

SportAccord says the vast majority of organizations that had planned to exhibit at SportAccord this year have already confirmed that they are committed to having a presence at the event in Ekaterinburg.

The 2020 edition was originally scheduled for Beijing and then moved to Lausanne before being cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
