International Sports Event Management Summit

The 8th International Sports Event Management Summit will take place on November 4-6 in London.

Speakers for the conference include Andrew Ryan, executive director of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations; Debbie Jevans, CEO of England 2015; David Grevemberg, CEO of Glasgow 2014; and more.

Around the Rings Editor-in-Chief Ed Hula will be moderating a panel on the legacy for the London 2012 Olympics. The panel will take place on November 5.

The panel aims to answer the question, "How is the city benefiting from the legacy and what is being done to transfer relevant knowledge to upcoming Games?" Representatives from Glasgow 2014, London 2012, and Rio 2016 will be speaking.

British Olympic Ball

Sir Steve Redgrave and Amy Williams will serve as the ball chairs for the 2013 British Olympic Ball.

The ball will take place on October 30 at 18:00 BST. Media must arrive by 17:00.

Olympic medalists Ben Ainslie, Jessica Ennis, Katherine Grainger, Anthony Joshua, Victoria Pendleton, Zara Phillips, and more will be in attendance.

Media personnel will be allowed to speak to athletes in a designated mix zone during the red carpet.

City Events

Dates and a theme for the 2013 City Events Conference have been announced.

Sessions will run November 13-15 in Lausanne. The theme of the conference is "Sporting Events in the Near Future."

REPUCOM announced a partnership with City Events to provide support during the conference. REPUCOM will also give presentations "regarding the return on investment that cities can expect from hosting a sporting event."

"We are very pleased to support City Events and the unique platform for discussion, knowledge sharing, and networking that it offers the event hosting community," said James Paterson, director of government, tourism, and events for REPUCOM.

The organizers for the event this year include GL Events Group and FISU.

Confirmed attendees include National Olympic Committees, organizing committees, stadium operators, city representatives, and more.

International Sports Convention

The International Sports Broadcast Expo has been added to the Geneva International Sports Convention.

The Convention now contains 18 conferences to take place during December 10-11, 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland. All 18 conferences will run simultaneously at the Palexpo Exhibition Hall.

Soccerex Global Convention

All host cities for the Russia 2018 World Cup have been invited to the Soccerex Global Convention in Rio de Janeiro.

Representatives from each city will present during a "Russian Workshop" highlighting Russia’s progress and projects. Representatives from the proposed United Football League between Russia and Ukraine will also present.

South Africa's Hoy Park Sports Development Centre announced it will be presenting at the Soccerex Global Convention. The park was announced at Soccerex’s African Forum, and will be used to develop young footballers in the Durban region.

The Global convention will be held from November 30-December 5 at Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
