(ATR) Cisco is the newest sponsor of the Rio 2016 Olympics.
On Wednesday, the IT company was announced as the 10th partner of the next summer Olympics.
According to a Rio 2016 statement, Cisco fills the "Networking Equipment & Enterprise Servers" category, part of the Supporters category for the Games’ sponsorship. Cisco will provide networking infrastructure for the event, as well as the hardware necessary for network security, data center networking, and network management systems.
Cisco will be a part of delivering adequate network services during the Games, which means WiFi for media, officials and Games organizers.
Rio 2016 President Carlos Arthur Nuzman said in a statement: "With Cisco’s partnership we will make the Rio 2016 Olympic Games the most connected Games ever."
"We are very proud to partner with the city of Rio and the Rio 2016 Organising Committee and helping deliver technically flawless Olympic Games and great spectator experiences," said Rob Lloyd, president of development and sales at Cisco said in a statement.
Cisco was a supporter of the 2012 Olympics as well.
