China is atop the medal tally at the end of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games.

The Asian powerhouse finished with 51 total medals – 30 gold, 16 silver and five bronze.

Russia came in with second with 43 total medals – 18 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze.

Ukraine (33), Australia (29) and the U.S. (25) round out the top five.

Cuba captured the competition's final gold Thursday when its boys' volleyball team beat Argentina.

Host nation Singapore earned two silver and four bronze.

The U.S. topped the Beijing medal tally but finished fifth in Singapore with 25 total medals and only six gold.

China was second in 2008 and Russia was third. Great Britain followed its fourth place finish in Beijing with a tie for 17th in Singapore.

China ran away with the gold medal count at both Games, winning 51 to the U.S.’s 36 in Beijing.

Ninety-seven nations earned at least one of the YOG’s 623 medals. Mixed national Olympic committees won 28 total medals.

Eighty-six nations took home 957 medals from Beijing.

Nanjing, China will host the next Summer YOG in 2014 from Aug. 16-28.
