CHICAGO (June 12, 2009) A Chicago 2016 delegation will travel to Lausanne, Switzerland, next week to make the first of two presentations to the members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Chicago 2016's delegation includes: Chicago Mayor and Honorary Chairman of Chicago 2016 Richard M. Daley, Chairman and CEO Patrick G. Ryan, President Lori Healey, Vice President of International Relations Bob Ctvrtlik, Director of Sport, Venues and Operations Doug Arnot, and Olympian and World Sport Chicago President Michael Conley. In addition, Anita DeFrantz and Jim Easton, the IOC members in the United States, will attend the presentation.

As part of the formal bid process, each Candidate City has the opportunity to make a presentation that highlights key aspects of its Candidature File (bid book) submission to the IOC members in attendance. The 45-minute presentation, followed by 45 minutes of questions and answers, will take place on June 17 at the Olympic Museum. On June 18, each Candidate City will have an exhibit room at the Lausanne Palace Business Centre where it can display models, show bid videos and answer questions from IOC members.

We are excited to showcase the details of our plan to the IOC and demonstrate how well-prepared Chicago is to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, said Ryan. Our plan is conveniently located in the center of the city, steps from recreation, cultural institutions, dining and entertainment, and hospitality. Chicago's historic parklands provide the ideal setting for world-class sporting events for both athletes and spectators.

Chicago 2016 will make its second and final presentation to the IOC just prior to the Host City election on October 2, 2009.
