The Badminton World Federation (BWF) confirms that Kate Jessica Foo Kune of Mauritius was found to have breached the BWF Anti-Doping Regulations earlier this year during the All African Championships.
The BWF Doping Hearing Panel determined that Ms. Kate Jessica Foo Kune committed an anti-doping rule violation resulting in the disqualification of the results of the tournament. The Panel, however, found that the player bore no fault or negligence and decided not to impose any period of ineligibility.
While the BWF recognises the Doping Hearing Panel’s thorough and careful work, the BWF has decided to appeal the decision before the Court of Arbitration for Sport as it touches upon the interpretation of fundamental principles of the World Anti-Doping Code and the Anti-Doping Regulations.
As the case is now pending, the BWF will make no further comment.
It is to be noted that pending the final appeal decision by CAS, the player is allowed to participate in international and national badminton competitions.
