Team GB Swimming team flew into London City airport this lunchtime (Tuesday July 24th) ahead of the start of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games this weekend. The swimming disciplines are among the first sports to take part in the Games.
Wearing their British Swimming tracksuits, the team, including medal hopefuls Rebecca Adlington, Jo Jackson, Keri-Anne Payne and Liam Tancock arrived into the bright sunshine on a British Airways aircraft after spending the last week at their training camp in Edinburgh.
Alongside the athletes were the coaches, physiotherapists and team managers who provide the support that make Olympic medals a real possibility.
To mark the occasion, the aircraft, in its traditional red white and blue colours, was given a water salute from the emergency services as it taxied along the runway and onto its stand.
The team posed for photographs on the steps of the British Airways aircraft before making their way to the Olympic Village to prepare for the start of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
British Airways is proud to be the official airline partner of Team GB and Paralympics GB.
