(ATR) Beach Volleyball will not be played on Boston Commons for the 2024 Olympics.

Instead, the bid will move beach volleyball to a temporary stadium on Squantum Point Park in the town of Quincy, just outside of Boston on Jun.17.

A 20,000-seat temporary stadium would be built in the park, right on Boston Harbor. The original bid plan had beach volleyball to be played on Boston Common, which drew criticism from many residents.

"We heard that there was a lot of concern about the preservation of the Boston Common," Richard Davey, Boston 2024 chief executive, said to reporters.

"Others thought it would be perfectly fine, but we looked around for other potential venues, as we’ve done."

According to a release from the organizing committee, a public meeting is planned in Quincy in July to get feedback from residents of the community.

On Jun. 18, Boston 2024 announced that Olympic and Paralympic basketball and Olympic gymnastics would be held at the TD Garden arena in Boston.

The arena was the host for both events in the original Boston 2024 bid plan. TD Garden will host the 2016 World Figure Skating Championships.

Steve Pagliuca, chairman of Boston 2024, is a co-owner of the Boston Celtics, the NBA team that plays at TD Garden.

Pagliuca, along with Boston mayor Marty Walsh, Olympians Aly Raisman and Jo Jo White, and TD Garden officials, attended the venue announcement held at the arena.

Raisman joined the Boston 2024 board of directors on Jun. 15, along with 16 other individuals with ties to the greater Boston community.

"For Boston sports fans that have grown up watching the Celtics and Bruins at the Garden, I think the chance to watch Olympic and Paralympic events live and in person would be the thrill of a lifetime," Pagliuca said at the event.

Joke Poll Shows Boston Indifference

A poll suggests more people in Boston would build a dinosaur park than host an Olympics.

Conducted by Boston.com, the tongue-in-cheek survey shows that 86.9% of respondents would rather spend billions on a replica of the blockbuster movie "Jurassic World" than host the 2024 Olympics.

Polling for the Boston 2024 games was reported at 39 percent support around the state of Massachusetts on Jun. 10.
