We are delighted to confirm that Bill Sweeney, CEO at the British Olympic Association (BOA), will deliver the Closing Keynote at next month’s must-attend Stadia & Arena Asia Pacific 2016 conference and exhibition.
During his presentation, Sweeney – who is currently on hand in Rio – will advise on what the BOA look for when deciding on a training/base camp before a major event.
Sweeney joined the BOA in November 2013 and is responsible for directing the day-to-day activities of the Association, including overseeing the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games, Pyeongchang 2018, Tokyo 2020 and the many other
international, multi-sport events in which Team GB will compete.
The BOA is one of only a few National Olympic Committees (NOC) that receive no Government funding and is an independent, autonomous and self-financing operation since its inception in 1905. As a result, the Commercial, Business and Brand aspects of the BOA are of critical importance, as Sweeney will discuss during
his Closing Keynote.
Sweeney will be in good company, joining a long and illustrious list of high-calibre sports industry professionals confirmed to speak at Stadia & Arena Asia Pacific 2016, such as Tokyo 2020 CEO, Mr Toshiro Muto, Rugby World Cup 2019 Organising Committee President & CEO, Mr Akira Shimazu and Japan Professional Basketball League Chairman, Mr Masaaki Okawa.
Also recently confirmed to speak is Mr Mitsuru Murai, Chairman of the J League – the top division of the Japan Professional Football League and one of the most successful leagues in Asian club football.
