(ATR) Beijing 2022 organizers took their bid global this past weekend.
On Nov. 1, Beijing 2022 released a video clip to start promoting their bid internationally.
The three-minute video is sparse on details about the city’s bid plan, relying heavily on footage from Sochi 2014 and Vancouver 2010. Organizers emphasized the bid’s planned venues in neighboring Yanqing and Zhangjiakou, as well as the proposed high-speed rail line to connect all three cities in less than an hour.
At the end, Beijing promises that the 2022 Olympic Games would be "a joyful rendezvous on pure ice and snow."
Organizers also took to social media over the weekend with the launch of an official Beijing 2022 candidate city Twitter account, which can be found here.
Beijing is currently in contention with Almaty, Kazakhstan to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. The host city will be selected at the IOC Session on July 31, 2015.
Berlin Plans 2024 Campaign
(ATR) Organizers in the German capital have plans to campaign for an upcoming Summer Olympics.
On Tuesday, Berlin will start a campaign to host the 2024 or 2028 Olympic Games, New Zealand news source 3 News reported this past weekend. The city’s initiative is supported by a group of thirty companies and seventy individuals.
The German Olympic Sports Confederation will decide whether to nominate Berlin or Hamburg to represent the country for a 2024 bid in March 2015.
"There is no doubt Germany will present a strong application, regardless of which city is chosen as a candidate," an IOC spokeswoman was quoted as saying.
Germany has not hosted an Olympic Games since the 1972 Games in Munich.
