Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) Will Be Among Many Nations Celebrating the International Olympic Day

BAHRAIN today (JUNE 23) will be among many nations all over the world to celebrate the International Olympic Day.

The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) is organizing a 3km walkathon that is set to begin from Dohat Award Walkway in Muharraq to mark this occasion.

Starting at 4pm, the walkathon is open to all residents and expats of all ages, with several other entertaining programmes set up by the BOC Corporate Communication on the sidelines of the event.

A special corner of the Sports Medicine Centre will provide therapeutic services provided for the athletes and the public in general, as latest medical devices that treat sports injuries will be made available for this purpose.

As part of its cooperation with the Ministry of Health, and due to the strong relationship between health and sport, which is one of the lofty goals of the Olympic Movement, the BOC will set up a special corner for diabetes and high blood pressure tests.

Another corner will be made available for kids where face painting, colorful balloons and other activities are scheduled to take place to add ensure an atmosphere of delight and joy.

The Committee has also allocated a range of souvenirs for the participants on this day, with T-shirts caps, water bottles to be given away, as well as certificates of participation from the BOC and the International Olympic Committee will be presented.

The BOC has sent out official invitations to various sports bodies and organisations, in addition to high-ranking officials in the ministries and cooperating governmental bodies, and the media.

A campaign to promote the this day was organised by the BOC last Friday (JUNE 20) at Bahrain City Centre in Manama, where registration for the walkathon also took place.

Today's event will be held under the patronage of BOC acting general secretary Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar.
