According to the German Press Agency (DPA), Bach said an Olympic bid from his home country "would really have a good chance."
"A German bid, supported by a vast majority of the population, would be a very, very strong one,"Bach was quoted telling reporters in Nanjing this week.
The DOSB, Germany's Olympic committee will decide in December whether Hamburg or Berlin will bid for 2024 or 2028.
The 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich were the last Games that took place in Germany. In 2011, Munich lost to PyeongChang in the bid race to host the 2018 Winter Olympics. The Bavarian city's bid for the 2022 Olympics was foiled by voters in last November.Berlin hosted the 1936 Olympics, but failed in its campaign to host the 2000 Summer Games. The city ofLeipzig bid to host the 2012 Olympics, but lost out to the eventual winner London.
A host city for the 2024 Games will be selected in 2017, and the 2028 host in 2021.
