City Events Highlights Role of the City in Major Events

The sixth edition of the City Events conference will take place in Paris, France from March 14-15 and will highlight the increasing role of the host city in putting on major events.

According to City Events, host cities and event organizers work together more than ever to promote the city and "ensure that these events will be the starting point of policies, programs and projects aiming to improve the quality of life for citizens."

City Events will welcome five sports business professionals that have witnessed the expanding role of the host city in sporting events to deliver its fourth round-table of the conference dubbed "The City at the Heart of the Event".

Jérôme Lacroix of the International Cycling Union, Dawn Goodwin of NGO International Inspiration, London's head of sports Simon Cooper, Paul Zealey of the 2014 Commonwealth Games and Geert Hendricks of AISTS will provide their perspectives of the evolving role of the city in organizing events.

More than 100 stakeholders are already registered for the event and participants may begin to schedule their individual meetings to network through cityevents-sport/networking.

ICSEMIS Names Keynote Speakers

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) adds another keynote speaker to the International Convention on Science, Education and Medicine in Sport (ICSEMIS).

Rory Cooper from the University of Pittsburgh, winner of the 2013 IPC Paralympic Scientific Award, will discuss technology in Paralympic sport at the conference set to take place in Santos, Brazil between the Rio 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, Aug. 31 to Sept. 4.

His keynote will be supplemented by Dr. Mike McNamee, a professor of Applied Ethics at Swansea University, who will give a philosophical reflection on the impact of technological advances on Olympic and Paralympic sports.

Other keynote speakers at the event include Kathleen Martin Curtis, Anneliese Goslin, Herbert Löllgen, Mary O’Sullivan, Linamara Rizzo Battistella, Pedro Hallal, Victor Matsudo and Yannis Pitsiladis.

Approximately 2,000 attendees are expected at the third edition of the event that takes place every four years in the host country of the Olympics and Paralympics. The theme of the convention is "Saying 'Yes' to Diversity in Sport".

CISA Heads to Algiers in 2016

The Africa International Sports Convention turns 10 in 2016 as the conference heads to Algiers, Algeria.

CISA will be held from Apr. 1-3 and is organized by the Algerian Olympicand Sports Committee (AOC) and the Association of National OlympicCommittees of Africa (ANOCA).

"Day by day, year by year, CISA is becoming, an central tool for thedevelopment of sport in Africa," said AOC president and ANOCA vicepresident Moustapha Berraf. "It is an event with a great internationalscope that we are proud to welcome in order to celebrate its 10thedition."

CISA is organized every year by a different city in Africa. Theconvention welcomes sports business professionals at a regional andinternational level.

The convention also features a program to educate children through sportcalled CISA Kids, a gala dinner, Athletes’ Seminar and a Seminar forAfrican Sports Journalists.
