Asian Paralympic Committee President Majid Rashed is attending the Asian Games as a guest of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), the first time that this has happened.
OCA President H.E. Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah issued the invitation to Rashed and key APC personnel. He met with them on Monday August 20th to welcome them to Jakarta. He encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity to view the venues and operational set up of the Asian Games in order to help the preparations for the Asian Para Games which will take place in October.
Commenting on the visit, Rashed said; "I am very grateful to Sheikh Ahmad for extending the hand of friendship to the APC and inviting us to see for ourselves the Asian Games. This is the 18th edition of the Asian Games whereas the Asian Para Games are still in their infancy – the Games in October will only be the third ever. So there is much to learn and I’m sure this visit will be invaluable, not only in increasing our knowledge but also in strengthening the ties between our two organisations, just as the IOC and IPC are. I’d like to wish everyone involved in the Asian Games, from OCA and the organising committee to the athletes, all the very best for a successful Games."
