(ATR) Asahi Breweries was unveiled as the second domestic partner of the Tokyo 2020 Games on Tuesday.

The brewer is a Gold Partner and becomes the official 'beer and wine' sponsor of the Games.

Today's announcement comes a day after Tokyo 2020's signing of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Corporation as its first major sponsorship.

Olympic organisers are targeting six to 10 gold partners. Each top-tier deal is worth around $130 million, according to Japanese media.

"Asahi Breweries has an excellent slogan, which translates roughly as "Let’s share the emotion," and this slogan very much echoes the efforts of the Tokyo 2020 organising committee to support athletes in their endeavours and to provide a stage where that emotion can be shared," said Tokyo 2020 president Yoshiro Mori.

"During the Games, the whole of Japan will be raising their glasses and cheering on the athletes, and we are looking forward to working closely with Asahi Breweries to share the emotion of the Tokyo 2020 Games."

Asahi Breweries president Akiyoshi Koji said the company was "most honored" to become one of Tokyo 2020's top-tier partners.

Tokyo 2020’s sponsorship program consists of Gold Partners, a second tier of ‘Official Partners’ and a third tier of Official Supporters. The IOC’s TOP sponsors for the Games are: Coca-Cola, Atos, Bridgestone, Dow, GE, McDonald’s, Omega, Panasonic, Procter and Gamble, Samsung and Visa.
