Angola became the first team to win two consecutive AfroBasket Women in the past five editions of the tournament.
They beat Mozambique 64-61 with a splendid performance by Nadir Manuel who had a game-high 21 points.
The Angolans had already secured a place to the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women after a Semi-final win over Senegal.
For the third consecutive time Mozambique failed to win a tournament as hosts.
The reigning champions led most of the final quarter, but they needed extra five minutes to claim the victory, after Leia Dongue tied the game at 48-48 with 4.12 minutes remaining and with the erupting home fans who sold out the Maxaquene Gymnasium.
Clarisse Machanguana put the hosts in front 50-48 lead, but Luisa Tomas tied at 50-50.
Then, Machanguana fouled out when they led 54-52 with 36 seconds remaining before Manuel rescued Angola to tie at 54-54 with 17 seconds left.
The All-tournament team included Nacissela Mauricio (Angola), Astou Traore (Senegal), Deolinda Ngulela and Leia Dongue (Mozambique) and Ramses Lonack (Cameroon).
Mauricio was named the tournament MVP.
Senegalese Marie Sy was one of the most inconsolable players after Saturday’s Semi-final defeat to Angola.
On Sunday’s third-place game, Sy rushed Cameroon’s hopes to take the game to overtime as she hit a three-pointer with one second remaining to give Senegal a 56-53 victory and a place on the podium.
Nigeria have been unable to beat Mali in their three encounters in the past decade.
On Sunday’s 5th to 6th place game, Meiya Tirera spent 37 minutes on the floor, contributing with 26 points and five rebounds to give Mali a 57-50 win over Nigeria.
Joyce Ekworomadu became the only Nigerian player scoring more than 10 points.
Cote d’Ivoire secured the seventh place after a 61-43 win over Egypt thanks to yet another remarkable performance by Kani Kouyate who had a game-high 26 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Cape Verde led the bottom four teams of the twelve-team tournament, followed by Kenya, Algeria and Zimbabwe.
