Jordan Mountaineering Association will host the first international climbing event ever organized in Middle East. The competition will take place in Amman, Jordan next Thursday and Friday, October 20-21, at the indoor venue of Climbat Amman, first and recently launched climbing center in the Country. The event will be run in collaboration with Climbat Barcellona and IFSC Global Partner Top 30, one of the world leading manufacturers of climbing walls and holds.
World Champion Ramon Julian Puigblanque from Spain, will be competing again in Jordan. Other 29 important protagonists of the World Cup series will attend the event as well. Main confirmations came from Austria with Jackob Schubert (this year’s super star getting his sixth consecutive victory) and Caterina Posh (silver medal in Xining and Imst World Championship), France with Caroline Ciavaldini (gold medal in Chamonix) and Manuel Romain (silver in Briançon), Slovenia with Mina Markovic (first on the podium in Changzhi, Xining and Chamonix) and Maja Vidmar (gold in Briançon), Japan with Sachi Amma (three times silvers in Boulder, Puurs, Xining), South Korea with Jain Kim (first in Puurs, Changzhi and Chamonix), Jordan with Sushi Firas, first Jordan Athlete to enter an IFSC event.
IFSC Chief Routesetter Matthieu Dutray and the Spanish team of Francisco Arocena and Jorje Vales are already working at Climbat Amman to set the routes for this seventh round (out of ten) of the competition series.
Several thousand of enthusiastic spectators are expected to attend the IFSC event, open to public and free of charge for promoting sport climbing among funs, newcomers and curios onlooker throughout the two days of competition. First men’s & women’s competition rounds will start on Thursday, 20 at 10 am local time (CET 9.00), after the official opening at the presence of Jordan higher authorities and IFSC representatives. Climax will be reached on Friday, 21 when semifinals and finals will take place at respectively 11.00 am (CET 10.00) and 8 pm (CET 7.00).
The most outstanding parts of the event will be broadcast live on Jordanian Royal TV, while full event coverage will be provided on IFSC.TV according to competition schedule.
