(ATR) The All-Africa Games have gotten off to a good start in Brazzaville, Congo.
The opening ceremony went without a hitch on Friday, September 4. Approximately 8,000 athletes flooded the new Kintele stadium from 54 countries to compete in the 15-day multi-sport event.
A total of 20 sports are on the program for the games, with two native sports of nzango and pharaoh boxing offering demonstrations throughout the event as well.
Egypt is in the early medal lead as the games approach the halfway point with South Africa in second and Algeria in third.
