AISTS to award the Global Sports Development Scholarship for the second time

AISTS is proud to announce the Global Sports Development Scholarship available for one AISTS MSA participant of the 2013 edition.

It is the second year in a row that AISTS receives support in the form of a scholarship from The Foundation for Global Sports Development (GSD), an international organisation which supports programmes to promote sportsmanship, education, fair play and ethics among the world's sports enthusiasts.

Last year's Global Sports Development Scholarship was awarded to Dagim Teshome from Ethiopia who worked with Haile Gebrselassie. "It is important to support a student who would not be able to take part in our programme without a scholarship. It is a great contribution to the support of sport in less privileged country", so Dr Claude Stricker, AISTS Executive Director.

AISTS and GSD encourage applications from any developing country. Candidates of the scholarship must be successful in their application to the AISTS MSA 2013 and in financial need, as stated in the scholarship criteria.

In 1972, 16-year-old Olympic swimmer Rick DeMont was stripped of his gold medal. In 2001, with the help of the founders of Foundation for Global Sports Development, he was finally, formally, cleared of wrongdoing. In the years between, Rick didn't give up on sports. He competed, coached and fought to clear his good name. Fighting with him, and for him, was the genesis of our organization, Justice for Athletes.
