Fallout for Gay
Adidas announced it suspended its sponsorship of track star Tyson Gay, after he admitted to failing an out-of-competition drug test on Sunday.
"We are shocked by these recent allegations, and even if we presume his innocence until proven otherwise, our contract with Tyson is currently suspended," a spokesperson for the company was quoted by Reuters news agency.
Gay, a silver medalist from the United States told the Associated Press: "I don't have a sabotage story. I don't have lies ... I basically put my trust in someone and I was let down," regarding his failed test.
He announced he would pull out of the upcoming world championships in Moscow as a result.
Gold medalists from Jamaica Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson were also said to have failed drug tests.
Jungwirth Sentenced
Former secretary general of the Austrian Olympic Committee (OOC), Heinz Jungwirth was sentenced to five years in Austrian prison on Friday.
Jungwirth, once the most influential sports administrator in Austria, was accused of diverting around $3.5 million from the OOC accounts for personal use between 2003 and February 2009. His trial took place in 2012.
The Board of Appeals wrote in its decision there was no chance of a reduction, and said Jungwirth caused an "extremely high amount of damage."
BP Continues British Olympic Support
BP will continue its partnerships with the British Olympic and Paralympic Associations as a top-level sponsor.
The deal, announced on Monday, lasts through Rio 2016.
"BP is helping to ensure that British athletes have the resources and support they need to excel on the Olympic stage," British Olympic Association Chairman Sebastian Coe said in a statement.
British Paralympic Association CEO, Tim Hollingsworth said: "We now have a growing family of partners who understand the value of the Paralympic movement in the UK and its potential to challenge perceptions of disability."
In the lead up to London 2012, BP sponsored six Olympians and Paralympians.
London 2012 Paralympic gold medalist Richard Whitehead said: "What impressed me with BP is that the support and commitment was the same for all six athletes regardless of ability or disability."
Swiss President Meets with Lausanne 2020
Swiss President Ueli Maurer met with Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games bid officials recently , expressing his support for the bid.
Maurer met with the Lausanne 2020 team during a reception honoring IOC President Jacques Rogge. Before the reception, Maurer was briefed on the bid plans.
In a statement, the bid said Maurer "was very excited" about the Lausanne bid.
The national selection process ends August 22.
Baku Launches Website
The Baku 2015 European Games Organizing Committee launched the official website, baku2015.com. The July 13 launch marked 700 days until the Games.
In a statement, the Organizing Committee said: "As of the launch date, the official website allows visitors from all over the world to learn about the First European Games mission, location and scale, sports and venues."
It added, "The website will be regularly updated speaking about the progress of preparation works for the Baku 2015 European Games and will suggest interactive sections to get involved in the Games."
Forty-nine National Olympic Committees will take part in the Games, which are scheduled for Friday, 12 June 2015.
