The organisers of the 2nd European Games have earmarked about 3,000 seats at sports venues for people with special needs, Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC) Deputy CEO Arkadzi Maleyeu told reporters.
On 29 May, MEGOC staff and volunteers gathered for a seminar in Minsk to discuss assistance to fans, including people with impairments. The volunteers and MEGOC staff were told how to help fans with impairments and show them to their seats at the sports facilities that will host the competitions of the 2nd European Games.
"Taking into consideration international practices, we have developed convenient navigation inside the sports facilities for fans with special needs. The sports facilities have special platforms and wheelchair ramps, special parking lots. About 3,000 seats have been earmarked for fans with impairments. We have created a barrier-free environment that will help such fans quickly get to their seats. I would like to note that while purchasing tickets online, one can indicate that they need assistance or a special parking spot. The organisers have done their best to make fans with impairments feel comfortable at the 2nd European Games," Arkadzi Maleyeu said.
