146 athletes from 50 countries will compete in next month’s World Singles Championship taking place in Doha, Qatar. The competition which is staged every four years is the largest global championship of its type and organisers are pleased to see the growing number of athletes qualifying for the event.
World Bowling CEO, Kevin Dornberger says "It is great to see such a large number of athletes from our confederations who will take part in the event. Every year our Championships are showing a greater level of skill and tougher competition from emerging nations."
The last World Singles Championship saw a USA domination with Chris Barnes and Kelly Kulick taking out the men’s and women’s top titles respectively. This year Dornberger suggests emerging new talents may challenge this dominance. "The talent pool is becoming more diverse, particularly from strong, young teams developing from the Asian nations and tough individual competitors from Europe. This is going to be a close, electrifying competition."
The World Singles Championship will take place in Doha, Qatar from December 2nd to 9th at the Doha Bowling Center. The event will be livestreamed on the World Bowling youtube and website.
