BUENOS AIRES (Youth Olympic Games) - The 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games will feature 40 3x3 teams from 33 different countries in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 6-18 October.
This will mark the third edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games, where 3x3 made its official debut in Singapore back in 2010. Lithuania's men and USA's women won the last edition in Nanjing, China in 2014.
Belgium's men and USA's women earned their ticket to Buenos Aires after winning gold at the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup in Chengdu, China last year.
Argentina will bring both men's and women's squads thanks to being hosts.
The other teams qualified to the Youth Olympic Games because of their position in the FIBA 3x3 Federation Ranking.
Only 7 countries will have a team in the 2 categories: Andorra, Argentina, China, Estonia, Ukraine, USA and Venezuela.
The event will star 20 men's and 20 women's teams competing in the team's tournament and in 2 individual contests (men's dunk contest and women's shoot-out contest).

Women: Andorra, Argentina (hosts), Australia, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, United States (U18 World Cup 2017 winners) and Venezuela

Exciting, urban and innovative, 3x3 is inspired by several forms of streetball played worldwide and is considered the world’s number one urban team sport. Steered by FIBA, games see two teams of three players face off on a basketball half-court.
It was played successfully for the first time in international competition at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and since then has benefited from the launch of a yearly city-based FIBA 3x3 World Tour (www.fiba.basketball/3x3worldtour) and national-team FIBA 3x3 World & Continental Cups. On 9 June 2017, 3x3 was added to the Olympic Program, starting from the Tokyo 2020 Games.
