PRESS RELEASE

COMMUNIQUÉ DE PRESSE

Lausanne (Sui), 20 March 2019

Only a few days remain before the first meeting of the season for Union Européenne de Cyclisme events

which begin, as usual, with the UEC BMX European Cup.

Next weekend (30/31 March) the first two rounds will take place in Verona (Italy). This is one of the most

prestigious events on the international calendar which has developed significantly over the last few years

both in terms of quality as well as participation.

Over 900 riders from 38 countries and 5 continents are registered for the two Italian rounds clearly

demonstrating that the BMX European Cup is now a leading race even outside of Europe.

Following the races in Verona, the calendar will continue with 8 other rounds that will be raced in Zolder

(Belgium) from 20 -22 April, in Rade (Norway) on 4 and 5 May, in Sarrians (France) on 25 and 26 May and in

Peer (Belgium) on 31 August and 1st September.

Rocco Cattaneo, President of the Union Européenne de Cyclisme: «The BMX European Cup has always

been regarded as one of the most important events on our calendar which is why we have invested a great

deal over the years and our efforts are now being rewarded. The exceptional level of participation at each

level, which is constantly increasing each season and the registration of no less than 52 UEC BMX Teams

for the 2019 season clearly proves that the direction we have followed over the last few years is the right

one.

In view of the huge scope of this event, last year we wanted to give it a new graphical identity and we also

launched initiatives to give it an even bigger boost to develop it even further. I am referring to the production

and live streaming of all events thanks to the partnership with Dailymotion and this year we will enhance

visibility with the broadcasting of highlights that will be available after each round.

On the eve of the new season, our sincere thanks go to the organisers of the 10 rounds on the programme

who will have to manage large and difficult events, in view of the high level of participation. Their passion

and professionalism which has already been demonstrated will be the most important factors in the success

of the BMX European Cup.»
