We are delighted to be working with the city of Belo Horizonte in the build up to the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup. As you may be aware, Belo Horizonte will host at least three matches in the 2013 Confederations Cup and six matches in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, including the Semi Finals at its Mineirão Stadium.
Ahead of these competitions, a party of delegates from Belo Horizonte will be travelling to the UEFA EURO 2012 in June and we’d like to use this opportunity to introduce you to key personnel from Belo Horizonte so you can gain a greater insight about the city and its preparations for these two major sporting events.
We shall be based in Europe from 18th June – 23rd June 2012 and will be in Gdansk, Poland on Monday 18th June followed by Warsaw on Wednesday 20th June, which is a ‘rest day’ in the sporting calendar. We’d like to invite you, or a colleague that will be attending the tournament, to join us for a drink in either of those cities to meet the team behind the scenes and discover more about Belo Horizonte as it is set to take its turn in the world’s media spotlight. Belo Horizonte was recently praised for its construction work in a survey commissioned by the Ministry of Sport in Brazil and is second in position, out of the twelve host cities, with its Mineirão stadium on schedule to be fully renovated for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Preparations aside, Belo Horizonte also boasts a passionate football culture and is the home of three high-level, professional football teams – Cruzeiro, Atlético Mineiro and América. Belo Horizonte was the host of the historical 1950 FIFA World Cup match between United States and England and the State of Minas Gerais is the birthplace of Brazilian footballing legend, Pelé and where Ronaldo started his celebrated career. In addition, Belo Horizonte has three training centres, two of which are regarded as among the top three centres in Brazil – Cruzeiro Esporte Clube and Clube Atlético Mineiro, and both training centres have professional and well-equipped press centres.
The city also benefits from a central location in the middle of Brazil and is the biggest hub of domestic flights in Brazil, with direct flights to all of the Host Cities. With 22 4* and 5* star hotels under construction for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Belo Horizonte promises to be the perfect base for teams and fans alike during the tournament.
I look forward to hearing back from you and confirming a suitable time to meet in Gdansk or Warsaw, Poland, depending on your schedule, and we can choose a location that is convenient to you.
