2011 World Championships Sees AIBA's Most Successful Media Distribution in Event History

"International Boxing Association (AIBA) and media partner Total Sports Asia (TSA) achieve distribution in more than 160 territories"

The 2011 edition of the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan saw the world governing body of boxing achieve most successful Television and new media coverage in event history, with TSA, AIBA’s media rights distribution partner, achieving an impressive number of deals and reaching households in over 160 territories.

The support shown by broadcasters worldwide is a huge boost for the body and its direction and vision for the sport.

The broadcasters of the World Championships included Al Jazeera in the Middle East, BBC Sport and gbsport.tv in the UK, TyC in Argentina, Ten Sports and Neo Sports in India, Nippon TV and TV Asahi in Japan, Setanta Africa, Sportsnet in Canada, BoxNation, the new boxing platform by Frank Warren, Esporte Interativo and ESPN in Brazil, RTR in Russia, Sportitalia in Italy, CCTV in China, Kazakhstan National TV, Sportklub in Croatia and many more.

It was shown on more than 20 other platforms around the world making it available in more than 934 million homes, AIBA estimates.

During the course of the tournament, TSA delivered the World Feed with more than 35 hours of coverage from various stages of the competition to broadcasters worldwide. TSA were also appointed production consultants.

The TV distribution numbers added to the success of the event, contributing to it becoming the largest ever World Championships AIBA had ever sanctioned, with the participation of 570 athletes from 113 countries.

AIBA also sanctions the Continental Olympic Qualifying events in 2012, which TSA will distribute.
