(ATR) The Vancouver 2010 flame gets closer to the final destination with 9 days to go until the Olympic Games.
Yesterday highlights include the Vancouver Olympic torch relay traveling through 3 towns and riding in a Kwakiutl First Nations traditional canoe in Port Hardy located on the north-eastern coast of Vancouver Island.
Today, the torch relay travels along the banks of the Queen Charlotte Strait. The flame departs Port Hardy and heads southeast through Kwakiutl and Port McNeill.
The 2010 flame proceeds through Sliammon First Nation and crosses the Strait of Georgia before it reaches its final destination point of the day in the city of Powell River located on the northern Sunshine Coast of southwestern British Columbia.
A welcome celebration will take place at Powell River Community Complex and include music and dance performances.
Tomorrow, the Olympic Flame travels through 16 towns and will be carried by one Olympian as it makes its way to Whistler.
