To celebrate the 10 years of the Rio 2007 Pan-American Games, the Brazil Olympic Committee (COB) promoted a commemorative photo in one of the most beautiful postcards of the Rio, the Aterro do Flamengo, with the Sugarloaf in the background. Also present were the president of the Brazilian Olympic Committee, Carlos Arthur Nuzman, presidents of the Brazilian Olympic Confederations and members of the COB Athletes Commission, among them former swimmer Thiago Pereira, who in Rio 2007 became known as Mr. Pan, after winning eight medals at the Games, gold medalist Yane Marques of the Modern Pentathlon, and Emanuel Rego of Beach Volleyball, and bronze medalist Fabiano Peçanha from the 800m track and field.
The Rio 2007 Games were held between July 13 and 29, 2007 and were considered the best Pan American Games ever. Olympic-level facilities, the best athletes in the Americas and an energy of the fans that until then Rio de Janeiro had never seen. Now, ten years later, Rio de Janeiro is already an Olympic City and the Pan-American Games occupy an unforgettable moment in the history of Brazilian sport.
