(ATR) London 2012 organizers have disclosed details for the London Olympic Institute, one of the legacies from the 2012 Olympics promised in the bid book. The institute is to focus on the vision of modern Olympic founder Pierre De Coubertin.
The institute would initially have three sections, a new Institute of Sport, a Sport and Exercise Medicine Center and an Olympic Research Center. Organizers hope that the complex will use the Olympics, along with cultural, educational and environmental principles to address a range of contemporary issues.
The institute, which would be located at the Olympic Park in East London, would be alongside of several new Olympic facilities, including an athletics stadium, indoor sports hall, Velopark, aquatics center and hockey pitch.
Set up as a non-profit organization, funding would come from public and private sources.
