World Union of Olympic Cities Launches New Initiative -- ATR Podcast

(ATR) The World Union of Olympic Cities launches its newest initiative--the "Smart Cities and Sport Summit"in Lausanne, November 5 - 7.

David Simon, the organization's vice president, tells Around the Ringsthat the summit is organized for governments interested in either hosting an Olympic Games or developing a healthy, active lifestyle among its citizens.

Simon, who is president of the Los Angeles Sports Council, spoke with ATR about the summit. Simon said the summit provides the opportunity forrepresentatives of cities to interact with IOC members and leaders of international federations.

Simon has been active in international sports since 1977 when he became involved in L.A.’s bid to host the 1984 Olympic Games. He also served as president of the L.A. 2012 and 2016 bid committees.
