(ATR) Friday was the last day of competition in Viera, Florida for the 2018 Women's World Cup.

Japan won its sixth straight women's baseball title after defeating Chinese Taipei 6-0 in Viera. Japan won all 11 of its games in the tournament, only giving up five runs throughout the event.

Canada defeated the United States in extra innings to win the bronze medal match earlier in the day. The defeat by the U.S. means it failed to medal in the past two editions of the tournament.

"The medal is awesome," said Canada manager Andre Lachance said post match. "We faced adversity the last couple of games. The game against the U.S. was a killer for us to play for gold. I told them yesterday when you play for bronze, sometimes your energy goes down, but if you don’t play with everything you’ve got, you’re going to regret it after."
