(ATR) US Olympic and Paralympic Committee vice president for communications Mark Jones will be leaving his post Feb. 7.
"It’s finally time for me to look for new horizons and I’ll be leaving the USOPC next week. I’m grateful for the time I’ve spent here, the people I’ve met and the athletes I’ve been allowed to watch inspire a world to be better. Helping to tell those stories has been one of the great privileges of my life," says Jones in a statement.
He says he looks forward to announcing his post-USOC plans "soon".
Jones came to the USOC in 2010 after working on the Chicago bid for the 2016 Olympics as an executive with Hill and Knowlton. He came aboard with fellow colleague from Chicago Patrick Sandusky who left last year for Madison Square Garden to become vice president of public relations.
In October Luella Chavez D’Angelo began work as USOPC Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, to whom Jones reported.
There’s no word yet from the USOPC as to whether the position held by Jones will be filled.
