(ATR) United States Olympic Committee (USOC) leadership met with the Boston 2024 bid on June 24 to review the revised bid plan.

Patrick Sandusky, communications chief for the USOC, confirmed the meeting with Boston 2024 to Around The Rings, saying it was part of "regularly planned" meetings between the two.

He added that Scott Blackmun, Larry Probst, Steve Pagliuca, and Richard Davey met, and then spent some time with mayor Marty Walsh. The group discussed future plans and prepared for the USOC board of directors meeting on Jun. 30 in Redwood City, California.

A report from the Boston Globe said that the meetings were fruitful and discussed the finances for the two major projects the bid must build: the temporary Olympic Stadium and Athlete’s Village. The report said both projects would remain in their original homes at Widett Circle and the University of Massachusetts Boston, respectively.

"It looks like they’re ready to commit, as long as we can show significant improvement by September, to give us a reprieve until then," a source from Boston 2024 told the Globe.

"They’re recommitting based on what they’ve seen today."

Public opinion still needs to rise for the bid to be successful. Boston 2024 polled at 39 percent support statewide earlier this month, and the USOC has conducted its own polls in the city to gauge support.

There will be a referendum on the Boston bid in November 2016, with the wording on the ballot question to be determined.

Universities Included in Boston 2024

Boston College, Harvard, and Northeastern will hold Olympic events if Boston were to stage the 2024 Olympics.

The announcement was part of another venue roll out the bid has been pursuing over the past weeks. Venues for the revised bid have come out one at a time, leading up to the full bid being presented by Jun. 30.

Boston College will host Olympic wrestling and Olympic and Paralympic judo. Harvard will host Olympic and Paralympic archery. Northeastern will host Olympic and Paralympic wrestling.

In addition to the university venues, Boston 2024 shared three new venues in and out of the city.

The Boston Convention Center will host Olympic and Paralympic indoor volleyball and table tennis. Olympic fencing and taekwondo will be held in Lowell, Massachusetts, and Olympic handball will be played in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Public Meeting Planned

Boston 2024 will meet with citizens from Brookline, Newton, Needham, Waltham and Watertown on July 1.

The bid said it will hold a community meeting at Boston College’s Robsham Theater in order to explain the new concept to citizens in surrounding townships of Boston.
