(ATR) Usain Bolt has made himself available for the Jamaican relay teams at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

According to Bolt’s manager Nugent Walker Jr., the six-time Olympic gold medalist has has asked for a medical exemption from the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA), which would allow him to miss this weekend's trial and still compete in Glasgow.

Bolt has not competed at all this season due to injury and would not compete in the solo races.

"Usain doesn't wish to take the spot of anyone who qualifies for the 100m and 200m at this weekend's trials," said Walker, according to Reuters.

The JAAA allows athletes who have applied for medical exemption from the trials to be included in national teams, provided they demonstrate their health prior to the competition. A spokesman for the JAAA confirmed that they received Bolt’s request, but will not consider it until after the trials.

If Bolt is selected, his presence in Glasgow will provide a huge boost to the athletics program as many of the bigger names in sport choose to focus on the European circuit rather than the Commonwealth Games.

The 20th Commonwealth Games will take place in Glasgow from July 23 to August 5.
