(ATR) The United States leads the Rio 2016 Virtual Medals Table, launched this spring by Infostrada Sports, with a predicted total of 99 medals.
The latest Virtual Medal Table predicts that Great Britain will follow up London 2012 with a total of 48 medals at Rio 2016.
Right now, the top five countries on the table are the U.S., China, Russia, Germany and France.
Infostrada Sports provides data, media, analytic and event services to sports federations, NOCs, event organizers, rights agencies, broadcasters, media publishers, brands and app developers.
In speaking with Around the Rings on Monday, Simon Gleave, head of analysis for Infostrada Sports, explained just what goes into the virtual medals table and how its projections might benefit NOCs in the lead up to an Olympic Games.
