(ATR) Koç Holding will sponsor the Turkish Olympic Team during its Rio endeavor and beyond.

The Turkish company agreed to a deal to become the Turkish Olympic Committee’s main sponsor for three years. Koç was also a partner of the Turkish NOC during Istanbul’s bid for the 2020 Olympics.

NOC president Uğur Erdener, CEO of Koç Holding; Turgay Durak; and Koç Holding’s director of corporate communications Oya Ünlü Kızıl signed the agreement at Koç Sports Club in Bağlarbaşı Friday.

"İstanbul is the correct city for the Olympics. We believe that this dream will come true one day; that is why we wanted to be the sponsor of Turkish Olympic Committee," Turgay Durak said in a statement.

"We wish to work in cooperation with the Turkish Olympic Committee for three years to develop the Olympic spirit in Turkey. We believe wholeheartedly that if sport becomes a lifestyle choice and is encouraged at an early age, this would result in big achievements in the future of sport."
