(ATR) The inaugural Endurance Exchange will bring together the triathlon industry next week.
The new event in Tempe, Arizona from January 23-25 combines multiple pre-existing gatherings previously put on by USA Triathlon and Triathlon Business International (TBI).
It replaces the TBI Annual Conference, which was initially scheduled for the same time and place. Endurance Exchange also will include two former events hosted by the USA Triathlon -- the USA Triathlon Race Director Summit and the Art and Science of Triathlon International Coaching Symposium.
Former Major League Baseball player Eric Byrnes, who is an avid triathlete and ultra-endurance athlete, is one of two keynote speakers. He joins Pasquale Romano, CEO of ChargePoint, the world’s largest electric vehicle charging network, who is also a triathlete.
In the summer of 2018, Byrnes became the first person in history to complete a "Triathlon Across America" — swimming seven miles across San Francisco Bay, cycling more than 2,400 miles from Oakland to Chicago, and running 905 miles from Chicago to New York City. His journey gave awareness to the Let Them Play Foundation while raising funds to combat the growing youth inactivity epidemic. The adventure was documented in "Let Them Play — A Triathlon Across America," a film which has not yet been released to the public.
Endurance Exchange attendees will be treated to a special outdoor screening of "Let Them Play" on Jan. 23 at Arizona State University’s Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe.
"I am excited about the opportunity to share my story and present ‘Let Them Play — A Triathlon Across America’ at Endurance Exchange," Byrnes said in a statement. "The world of ultra-endurance sports has positively impacted my life in more ways than I could have ever imagined. Hopefully by sharing my unlikely journey from Major League Baseball to endurance sports, we will be able to help inspire kids and people of all ages to just keep charging!"
