Skateboard GB skateboarder and Olympic hopeful, Sky Brown, was injured during practise on Thursday. She fell to the floor while completing a gap trick on a Vert ramp, sustaining a fractured skull, a broken wrist and broken hand.
Sky had been practicing with world renowned skateboarder Tony Hawk, at his private facility in California when she fell. She underwent surgery on Monday for her hand and wrist and is doing well, talking to her family and medical team. She should make a full recovery.
The eleven year-old has been very positive since the accident and posted a video on her account, saying "I'm going to push boundaries for girls with my skating and surfing," "I'm going for gold in 2021 and nothing will stop me."
Skateboard GB CEO, James Hope-Gill said "Our thoughts are with Sky and her family, and we wish her a speedy recovery."
Sky is currently placed 3rd in the Olympic World Ranking, which if maintained over the next season, would see her qualify for the Olympic Games and give Great Britain, one of their youngest ever athletes at the Summer games.
