Late on Wednesday, the Serbian Basketball League (KLS) signed an agreement which will see the Serbian Superlige monitored by leading integrity service provider, Sportradar.

The company’s Fraud Detection System will monitor betting across over 450 betting operators, looking over the remaining matches in the current season from today onwards, as well as the upcoming season’s games.

Speaking at the official signing ceremony on Wednesday, KLS Director Leon Deleon emphasized: "We are the first basketball federation in the region to take this preventative step and so we are proud to again be the first movers in progressing the sport forward. Match-fixing is a clear danger that we cannot ignore and it is a danger that can come from any country and from any part of the world. That was why we needed the system with the broadest coverage of the betting market and with the most detailed analysis: Sportradar ticked the boxes for us. We hope this partnership today sends a clear message to those who would look to corrupt our sport that Sportradar are watching and we are watching".

Sportradar Security Services Managing Director Andreas Krannich added: "We were the first integrity specialists to develop a system for the monitoring of basketball and started looking into matches in 2014. Serbian basketball have today put their trust in that specially tailored system and they can now be assured that they will have a unique and bespoke insight into how individuals are betting on their league at any of the 450 operators we have in our Fraud Detection System. That information will be crucial in understanding what is happening, who knows what, where fixers are placing their bets and what results are anticipated. In the event that our expert analysts spot any concerns, we will work closely with the KLS and their collaborators to ensure that those manipulating the outcomes are brought to justice. We hope, that as Mr Deleon suggested, this partnership proves to be the first in building an effective network of similar partnerships in the region".
