San Francisco 2024 Celebrates Baseball Championship

(ATR) Leaders of the San Francisco 2024 bid say World Series win highlights the great “sports town” the city is.

(ATR) Leaders of the San Francisco 2024 bid tell Around the Rings winning the World Series on Wednesday highlights the great "sports town" the city is.

"I don’t think it will have any impact [on the bid]," San Francisco 2024 exploratory committee leader Steven Strandberg told ATR by email.

Major League Baseball’s San Francisco Giants won their third World Series in five years on Wednesday night, defeating the Kansas City Royals in a seven-game series. The Giants also won championships in 2010 and 2012.

"[It] further demonstrates what a great sports town San Francisco is, as is the entire Bay Area. Stay tuned for a great parade!"

San Francisco pitcher Madison Bumgarner was the series MVP.

San Francisco is one of four United States cities shortlisted by the United States Olympic Committee to be the U.S. representative for a 2024 Olympic bid.
