(ATR) Leaders of the International Boxing Association are prepared to update the National Federations across the globe about the progress made to end AIBA's financial and mismanagement woes.
The 22-member Executive Committee wrapped up its two-day Extraordinary EC Meeting in Rome on Jan. 16 having taken a number of decisions aimed at creating a better governance and financial structure.
These decisions pave the way for a crucial Extraordinary Congress Jan. 27 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Here, AIBA’s National Federations will vote on proposed governance changes and receive progress reports on the work done by the EC to settle its debts and legal cases brought on by the management of former AIBA president C.K. Wu.
The federation is also likely to receive a new interim president that would steward the federation until the Nov. 2-3 AIBA Congress where a full presidential election will be held.
With swift work by the EC, the full two-day agenda concluded five hours ahead of schedule on Jan. 16, allowing the EC members to explore the heart of Rome and its famous sights. The sight-seeing tour was a welcome break from extensive work done at the Sheraton Roma Convention Center and Hotel during the meeting.
