Today, the Riyadh 2030 Bid Committee has announced plans to form a new National Olympic Committee (NOC) Advisory Committee to ensure athletes remain at the heart of delivering the 2030 Asian Games. Should Riyadh be selected as hosts, the Committee will be launched as early as 2021.

Representing all NOC regions, the Committee would provide expertise in a wide range of important areas and work alongside the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) to advise Riyadh 2030 on matters relating to the Athletes’ Village, athletes’ welfare, training camps and more.

The gender-equal committee would be composed of representatives from the five NOC regions, in addition to seven additional experts, who will provide advice on topics such as environmental awareness and global alignment. It would meet twice a year online or during events such as ANOC meetings or OCA General Assemblies and regularly share insight and guidance with the Riyadh 2030 organising team.

The formation of the NOC Advisory Committee is in line with Riyadh 2030’s commitment to placing athletes at the heart of its bid. The city’s spectacular, state-of-the-art venues and facilities have been designed to ensure athletes have an incredible experience and perform at their very best on a spectacular stage. Alongside unparalleled high-performance training facilities, the well-connected Athletes’ Village, located at the heart of the Games, will instill a community atmosphere.

Riyadh 2030 Director-General and SAOC Vice President, HH Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdul Aziz, said:

"I am delighted to announce plans for the establishment of the NOC Advisory Committee. The Committee would allow us to hear insight and advice from NOC representatives and help us fulfil our commitment to delivering a truly unforgettable Asian Games in 2030."
